It is the largest elephant village in the world and home to the Kuy people, who have long been experts in training and caring for elephants.

This village is not just a place to raise elephants it is a community where elephants are considered family members. Locals and elephants live side by side under the same roof, and in some households, elephants even sleep next to the house like close pets. The bond between humans and elephants here is deep, genuine, and heartfelt.

A Valuable Learning Center: Elephant Conservation and Study Center

With in the village is the Elephant Study Center, a comprehensive learning hub about elephants. Here, visitors can experience the real life of elephants, learn how to care for them, and participate in various activities, including:

  • Elephant shows held twice daily at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM
  • Feeding and bathing the elephants
  • Learning basic elephant training techniques
  • Visiting the Elephant Museum

How to Get There

  • From Surin City: Take Highway 214 toward Si Khoraphum District. At kilometer 36, turn left onto Highway 3236 and continue for about 22 km until you reach the sign for Ban Taklang Elephant Village.
  • By public transport: Take the songthaew (local shared taxi) route 4450 from Surin Bus Terminal to Ban Taklang Elephant Village, approximately 1.5 hours.

Open: Daily (except Monday and Tuesday)

Elephant Shows: Twice a day at 10:00 - 11:00 AM and 2:00 - 3:00 PM

Entrance Fees

  • Thai adults: 50 THB
  • Thai children: 20 THB
  • Foreign adults: 100 THB
  • Foreign children: 20 THB
  • Seniors and young children: Free
