The temple began when Phra Ajahn Fan Acharo, a revered monk in the lineage of Luang Pu Mun Bhuridatta, came to the Huai Sa-Neng forest in 1940 (B.E. 2483) to practice meditation. At that time, the area was a dense, tranquil forest, ideal for intensive spiritual practice.
Later, the site was established as a permanent monastery, with successive monks continuing the mission of propagating the Dhamma and developing the area into a comprehensive center for meditation practice and herbal knowledge.
Religious and Social Significance of Wat Pa Yotha Prasit
Wat Pa Yotha Prasit is a Dhammayut forest monastery, affiliated with the Dhammayutika Nikaya. It was granted the royal boundary (Wisungkhamasima) and officially consecrated on 7 March 2001 (B.E. 2544).
Currently, Phra Kru Sophon Thammarangsi serves as the abbot, leading the propagation of the Buddhas teachings. He also established the Sufficiency Economy Learning Center and Herbal Processing Center within the temple, promoting practical wisdom and community development alongside spiritual practice.
