#Thailand Travel Plus: A Domestic Tourism Stimulus Program

#Thailand Travel Plus: A Domestic Tourism Stimulus Program
The Thai government is preparing the “Thailand Travel Plus” project, aimed at supporting tourism operators and distributing tourism revenue to communities across the country.
1 Million Travel Entitlements
The government plans to allocate a total of 1,000,000 entitlements to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.
Participants can receive support for accommodation and travel-related spending of up to THB 3,500 per entitlement.
Each person can receive a maximum of 5 entitlements.
Each entitlement consists of:
Accommodation subsidy: Reimbursement based on actual expenses, up to THB 1,500 per entitlement.
E-Coupon: Can be used at restaurants, spas, and other tourism-related services under a co-payment scheme, with the government paying 50% and the participant paying the remaining 50%.
For travel to major cities, the E-Coupon is worth THB 1,500 per entitlement.
For travel to secondary cities, the government will increase the E-Coupon value to THB 2,000 per entitlement.
Registration
Tourism operators and members of the public interested in joining the program can register from 1 October to 25 October 2026.
Registration channel:
The Paotang application
When Can the Entitlements Be Used?
The program will begin on 1 November 2026 and will run for a total of approximately 3 months, divided into two periods:
First period: 1 November – 15 December 2026
Second period: 16 January – 28 February 2027
There will be a temporary suspension of entitlement usage from 16 December 2026 to 15 January 2027, covering the peak tourism and New Year period.
The rationale is that people naturally have a high demand for travel during the high season and New Year holidays. According to the study cited by the government, injecting additional incentives during this period would not significantly increase the number of tourists.
Budget and Expected Economic Impact
The program has a budget of no more than THB 3.5 billion and will provide 1 million entitlements.
The government will support up to THB 3,500 per entitlement, calculated from:
Accommodation subsidy: THB 1,500
Secondary-city E-Coupon: THB 2,000
The government expects the program to generate as much as THB 58 billion in economic circulation, representing an estimated economic return of up to 2.5 times the government’s investment.
Conditions for Participating Businesses
The government will also implement strict measures to prevent fraud and prevent hotel operators from taking advantage of the scheme by raising room prices.
Participating operators must declare their room rates when registering for the program.
If an inspection finds that room prices have increased by more than 10% compared with the same period of the previous year, the operator will immediately be disqualified from participating in the program.
Hotels participating in the program must have a valid hotel operating license.
If an establishment does not have a hotel license, it must demonstrate that it is properly registered for and paying taxes in accordance with the law.
