UPDATE: “Thai Tiew Thai Plus” Registration Set to Open on October 1 via the “Paotang” App, with Expansion to 1 Million Entitlements and 3.5 Billion Baht in Loan Funding
Surasak Phancharoenworakul revealed that discussions with Ekniti Nitithanprapas are moving forward with the “Thai Tiew Thai Plus” project. Registration is scheduled to open on October 1 via the “Paotang” application. The government is preparing to expand the number of entitlements from 500,000 to 1 million, using 3.5 billion baht in funding from an emergency loan decree. The initiative aims to accelerate the circulation of money and support tourism operators affected by the energy crisis. The government is also preparing a winter travel campaign to help revive the economy in Nan and the northern region following the floods.
Today (August 25), Surasak Phancharoenworakul, Minister of Tourism and Sports, said that registration for the “Thai Tiew Thai Plus” project will open on October 1 through the “Paotang” application.
He confirmed that the project’s backend system is ready. The remaining steps involve reviewing additional rules and conditions before submitting the project to the Cabinet for consideration, with the goal of completing the approval process within September.
Following discussions with Dr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, and Lawaron Saengsanit, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, on August 24, it was concluded that the system would be ready for implementation by December.
Regarding the project’s budget, the government is now preparing to increase the number of entitlements from the original 500,000 to 1,000,000, using a total budget of 3.5 billion baht from an emergency loan decree. This is an increase from the previously estimated budget of 1.75 billion baht for 500,000 entitlements.
“We originally planned for 500,000 entitlements, but we want to encourage as many people as possible to use the scheme. Therefore, we will open 1 million entitlements in a single round, with each person able to register for up to five entitlements,” Surasak said.
Surasak emphasized that the key objective of the “Thai Tiew Thai Plus” project is to support tourism operators who have been affected by the energy situation in recent months, while helping stimulate domestic tourism and accelerate economic recovery.
