Pakar Ampul Rice is a traditional indigenous rice variety from Surin Province, located along the Thai–Cambodian border. It is distinguished by its golden-yellow husk when fully mature, resembling the color of tamarind blossoms, which is why it is also known as "Golden Tamarind Blossom Rice."
This unique rice variety is highly valued for its drought tolerance, natural resistance to pests and diseases, and its long, slender grains. When milled as brown rice, the grains have a distinctive greenish-brown color. Its texture is soft, slightly sticky, and pleasantly chewy, with a unique flavor reminiscent of sweet boiled corn.
