Light & Sound Show: “Legend of the Elephant Keepers of Surin” 2026
The Light & Sound performance “Legend of the Elephant Keepers of Surin” is held at the Commemorative Public Park (New Park), Mueang District, Surin Province.
Surin Province is a culturally rich area with diverse ethnic groups, including Thai-Kui, Thai-Lao, and Thai-Khmer communities. The local way of life is deeply rooted in agriculture, especially the cultivation of high-quality jasmine rice, famously known as “Surin Hom Mali Rice – fragrant, long-grain, white, and soft.”
Surin is also renowned for its elephant-raising heritage, being home to the largest number of domesticated elephants in the world. This long-standing tradition reflects a deep bond between humans and elephants that has been passed down through generations.
This spectacular performance (presents) the story of the “Legend of the Elephant Keepers”, highlighting the lifestyle, beliefs, and close relationship between people and elephants through a grand light, color, and sound production. The show beautifully blends traditional folk arts to impress both Thai and international visitors, while also boosting the local economy and promoting Surin as a cultural tourism destination.
