It is located in Ban Tha Sawang, Tha Sawang Subdistrict, Mueang District, Surin Province.
Tha Sawang Ancient Gold-Thread Silk Weaving Village is a nationally renowned community recognized for preserving and reviving the traditional Thai royal-style gold-thread silk weaving. Notably, the craftsmanship of the Chanthasoma Gold-Thread Silk Weaving Group, founded and led by Master Weeratham Trakulngernthai, has played a central role in maintaining this exquisite art form.
The gold-thread silk of Tha Sawang is exceptionally intricate and elaborate. Weaving each piece requires up to 1,416 heddles and four skilled weavers working simultaneously. The designs blend traditional Thai motifs, such as Thepphanom and Garuda stopping Naga, with local Surin patterns like Amphram and Samo. The weaving uses fine silk threads dyed with natural colors, which are carefully bleached, boiled, and colored using three primary natural dyes: red from lac, yellow from the Ga-lae tree, and indigo from indigo seeds, combined with gold-thread accents. This process results in fabric that is both lustrous and exquisitely delicate.

The Chansom Weaving Group from Ban Tha Sawang has received support from the Bureau of the Royal Household and the Queen Sirikit Foundation. The group was honored to weave golden brocade silk as a royal gift for leaders and their spouses during the APEC Summit in 2003. This achievement earned them the title The 1,416 Reed Silk Weavers.

The Chansom Ancient Golden Brocade Silk Weaving Group from Ban Tha Sawang first gained national recognition for its exquisite weaving craftsmanship. The group was founded and led by Master Weeratham Trakun-ngernthai, a National Artist, who initiated the revival of traditional Thai royal brocade weaving. This effort was made possible with the support of the Bureau of the Royal Household and the Queen Sirikit Foundation, with the aim of preserving and restoring the ancient art of high-class royal golden brocade weaving.
Visitors can explore the entire process of golden brocade silk weaving from silk reeling and natural dyeing to the intricate weaving itself. The village also features a Silk Museum showcasing the masterpieces and personal collections of Master Weeratham. In addition, there is a community market offering silk products and OTOP-style souvenirs for visitors to enjoy.
